Beretta

Beretta_logo

A Dynasty for Over Four Centuries...

In 1526 Mastro Bartolomeo Beretta (1490 – 1565/68) of Gardone received 296 ducats as payment for 185 arquebus barrels sold to the Arsenal of Venice. Already in production in the early 1500s, Beretta products were chosen by the highly discriminating Republic of Venice because of their excellence. As the Beretta name became synonymous with uncompromising quality, design, materials, construction and performance, word spread beyond the Italian borders, establishing a tradition that has carried over, uninterrupted, through fifteen generations of Berettas. The trade secrets and attention to detail Jacopo (1520/25 – ...) inherited from his father Bartolomeo were passed on to his own son Giovannino (1550 – post 1577), then to his grandson Giovan Antonio (1577 – post 1649) – on and on from one century to the next.

In the early 1800s Pietro Antonio Beretta (1791 – 1853), in spite of difficulties arising from constant wars and foreign domination, traveled throughout Italy to demonstrate the superior quality of his products and collect orders. Pietro Antonio’s son Giuseppe (1840 – 1903) continued the arduous effort begun by his father, creating new opportunities for the company through international distribution.

In the early 1900s Pietro (1870 – 1957) took the Company reins, introducing modernized manufacturing methods, many patents for mechanisms and simplified construction, consequently establishing Beretta, the first Italian firearms maker, as one of the most modern firearms production facilities in the world. The modernization process was continued by the sons Giuseppe (1906 – 1993) and Carlo (1908 – 1984), securing the Company’s multinational character with commercial and production activity in numerous European countries and the United States. These efforts created successful ventures in the military, law enforcement and private sectors.

Beretta Today

Today, under the leadership of Cav. Ugo Gussalli Beretta and his sons, Franco and Pietro Beretta embarks on the 3rd Millennium with the benefit of centuries of experience. That experience, combined with investments in technology, organization and growing product lines, has prepared Beretta for the demands of the global market of the 21st century.

Previously, Rossi firearms were distributed by Interarms of Alexandria, Virginia. Rossi manufactures its classic rifles in a plant in Sa Leopoldo, Brazil and will continue operations there, selling many firearms outside the United States and North America.

Revolvers sold by BrazTech with the Rossi name are manufactured in a brand new facility owned by Taurus in SaoLeopoldo, Brazil. Much of the tooling and many of the machines were acquired from Rossi during negotiations between the companies.

Today's Rossi is still run by the same family and they put the same dedication and innovation into every firearm. At Rossi, it is more than just building guns...it is a family's history and tradition.

ROSSI HISTORY AND BACKGROUND INFORMATION

The Python, often referred to as the Rolls Royce of double action revolvers.

Suffice it to say that no other name has contributed more to the legendary history, or the future ingenuity of American firearms than Colt. That’s what makes Colt the most revered and collectible name in the history of firearms to this very day, and for the future.

CVA

Cva_logo

CVA GIVES AMERICA’S HUNTERS THE MOST GUN FOR THEIR BUCK…OR THEIR BULL

For over 37 years CVA has been dedicated to providing the best muzzleloader value on the market. And, for the better part of this decade now, we’ve been delivering that same value story with our center-fire offerings! We can do this because we build our rifles in a company-owned, state-of-the art production facility nestled in the mountains of northwestern Spain -- a region of Europe that has a rich history of fine gun making. By utilizing the most modern and most technically advanced manufacturing equipment available, we produce more muzzleloading guns than any other factory in the world – which in turn allows CVA to provide today’s shooter with more features and quality for the dollar than any other manufacturer.

In order to build precision guns, precision components are a necessity. Therefore, all of our gun components, whether manufactured on-site or sourced from other quality manufacturers, are produced under ISO-9001 quality standards. These precision components, combined with our precision manufacturing and assembly processes, assure you of a “performance for the price” that is unmatched by any of our competitors.

Of course, accuracy is what really matters with a hunting rifle, be it a muzzleloader or a center-fire – and, regardless of price, no gun is a “bargain” if it’s not accurate. That’s why every CVA must be capable of delivering unsurpassed accuracy in the hunting situations for which it was designed. Whether it’s an entry-level Buckhorn 209 Magnum or our top of the line APEX Interchangeable Barrel Rifle System , CVA guns consistently outshoot competitive models – many of which sell for more than twice the price. And all of our premium models feature Bergara Barrels, which we back with an industry leading accuracy guarantee.

Franchi

Franchi_logo

Franchi is a leader in modern firearm manufacturing techniques, and has perfected the art of building double-barrel and auto-loader shotguns.

The skill and craftsmanship that are the hallmarks of Franchi guns date back to 1868. Franchi began manufacturing firearms in the historic city of Brescia, in Italy’s industrial heartland. It was a time when gunmakers’ guilds isolated themselves to protect their secrets for converting ore into metal and for forging iron into firearm barrels and actions.

Franchi’s expertise has been built on more than one hundred years of craftsmanship and unique metalworking skills, all evident in the new Franchi products being made today.

Franchi has historically assumed a major role in the gunmaking industry in perfecting innovative product lines through the use of new materials, cutting-edge technology and innovative manufacturing methods. Providing new products that meet emerging needs is a philosophy that has driven the company from the beginning. Franchi has embraced this concept from the time of its earliest patented designs and operating systems. Today’s Franchi guns incorporate innovative features protected by new patents, and embody improvements on original designs without sacrificing style or performance.

Franchi’s commitment to innovation has most recently resulted in the creation of unique, multi-barreled sets of over & under shotguns, and an amazingly simple, reliable, gas-operated auto-loader. The Inertia Driven® System drives the latest generation of Franchi auto-loader shotguns.

Our quality products meet today’s demanding standards without compromising the original ideas that make Franchi firearms unique. Franchi firearms are built on a foundation of excellent, enduring quality and a well-established tradition of gun craftsmanship.

Harrington & Richardson

Harringtonrichardson_logo

A breakthrough so important that it alters the course of an industry is rare indeed. But it happened in 1871, when Gilbert H. Harrington invented the top-breaking, shell-ejecting revolver. For the first time, handgunners had a firearm that was not only durable and accurate, but easy to load and unload as well.

To produce his invention, Harrington teamed up with William A. Richardson. The two men gave their names to a firm that would soon become synonymous with high-quality, technically superior revolvers and shotguns. Harrington & Richardson's reputation for excellence became established so firmly, so quickly, that in 1880 the firm was named sole North American licensee for England's Anson & Deely double-barrel hammerless shotgun.

In its day, the Anson & Deely was considered to be the finest shotgun available anywhere, at any price-and only the most quality-conscious manufacturer could be entrusted with its creation.

H&R's success led it to break ground for a state-of-the-art factory in Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1893. Just a few years passed before the factory had to be expanded. It was here that H&R developed a broad line of firearms, including their innovative-and hugely successful-single-barrel shotgun, which featured automatic shell ejection.

In 1932, an H&R pistol was used to set a new U.S. pistol record, and would go on to become the most famous firearm of its kind-the U.S.R.A. single-shot target pistol. This pistol was so accurate that it was adopted by the U.S. Army Pistol Team.

In wartime, H&R answered the call to duty. During World War I, H&R was an important producer of shoulder-type flare guns. In World War II, the company was a major producer of military firearms, earning many commendations from the U.S. armed forces. It produced the U.S. M1 Garand rifle, was the largest single manufacturer of the M-14, and one of the major producers of the M-16.

In November of 2000, the Marlin Firearms Company purchased the assets of H&R 1871, Inc. Marketing its products under the brand names of Harrington & Richardson® and New England Firearms®, H&R 1871, LLC is currently the largest manufacturer of single shot shotguns and rifles in the world.

Kimber

Kimber_logo

Pistols:
Kimber builds the finest 1911 pistols in the world. A bold statement, maybe, but backed by the actions of the best law enforcement units, military forces and competition shooters. Legendary LAPD™ SWAT tested five major 1911 brands and chose Kimber. United States Marines assigned to Special Operations Command carry Kimber. The U.S.A. Shooting Team trains for rapid fire Olympic competition with Kimber.

On the strength of unequaled quality, Kimber sells more pistols into the growing 1911 market than any other manufacturer. Predictably, every year another gun company that specializes in something else trots out a 1911 with hopes of grabbing market share. While none of these pistols matches Kimber in quality or features - and many cost more - they do a great job of confusing things. Follow the lead of the experts. Don't settle for anything less than the best. Trust your next shot to Kimber.

Rifles:
Few things matter more to a hunter or shooter than a truly fine rifle, especially during the handful of days each year spent doing what really matters. That point isn't lost on Kimber. No matter the caliber, Kimber rifles are designed, engineered and manufactured to make every shot count. They are built to last a lifetime and then to be passed on to a son or daughter so they can make their own memories.

From the beginning, Kimber was determined to build production rifles better than any other company and knew this could only happen if everything was done inside. A tremendous investment in a state-of-the-art computer driven manufacturing facility made it reality. Today, barrels are profiled and broached around the corner from where stocks are shaped and inletted. Assembly is completed just steps from the shooting tunnels where each rifle is tested. The only thing coming in through the gate is raw material, because there is no other way to ensure quality.

Knight

Tony Knight, was the first to popularize the modern in-line muzzleloading gun in 1985 with his MK85 model. From the first all Knight guns have been known for two things, accuracy and reliability. Every Knight gun comes equipped with a Green Mountain barrel, the gold standard in rifle barrel manufacturing, with milled tolerances to 10,000th of an inch. Thanks to their Green Mountain barrels 2005 marked the 6th year in a row Knight Rifles has won the National Muzzleloading Manufacturers accuracy competition.

Today every Knight gun is "accuracy guaranteed" to be able to shoot a 2 1/2 inch three shot group at 100 yards. The Long Range Hunter model (new for 2006) is accuracy guaranteed to be able to shoot a 4 inch group at 200 yards. These guarantees are for rifle scope mounted guns and every Knight rifle comes drilled and tapped from the factory for easy scope mounting. For hunters that prefer open sights or hunt in states that do not allow rifle scopes on muzzleloaders Knight equips all of their guns with adjustable fiber optic sights which give maximum visability in all hunting conditions.

Knight guns have perhaps the most reliable ignition system of any muzzleloader made. The heart of the system is a Full Plastic Jacket which encases a 209 shotgun primer. The plastic jacket, when pushed onto the "nipple" of the breech plug works as a seal to waterproof the primer and powder. Knight guns have been submerged in water for over an hour and still fired every time. It is this kind of reliability that has endeared Knight rifles to hunters for over twenty years.

For hunting in states that do not allow 209 ignition systems during their muzzleloading deer season Knight still builds one model, the Bighorn, which can use three different ignition systems interchangably. The original number 11 cap ignition, a musket cap ignition, and the 209 ignition system.

For the better part of a century, the name Stoeger has been associated with fine firearms.

Now, as then, Stoeger presents products for the hunter and shooter, designed for every occasion. The company provides a complete line-up of shotguns of every variety and gauge: double barrel over & unders, side-by-sides, semi-autos, and pump-actions; as well as auto-loading defense pistols.

It all began in 1923, when Austrian immigrant Alexander F. Stoeger issued a price list from his New York City shop. In it, he announced that he was the "sole authorized importer for the United States and Canada of the genuine Mauser and Luger Arms and Ammunition." German Luger pistols were among the first firearms Stoeger sold.

The next year, Stoeger issued his first catalog. And by 1931, the Stoeger catalog proclaimed the company to be "the only exclusive gun house in America."

In the 1990s, the Stoeger company was purchased by Finnish rifle manufacturer Sako. In 2000, Sako was acquired by Beretta Holding S.p.A. At that time, Stoeger Industries was placed under the ownership of Benelli USA, where it remains today as a member of the Benelli USA family of companies.

The technology and expertise of Benelli USA are integral to Stoeger’s manufacturing processes. And all Stoeger products enjoy a solid reputation for affordable quality.

Taurus

From humble beginnings as a small tool manufacturer in Porto Alegre, Brazil over 60 years ago, Forjas Taurus (translation: Taurus Forge) has become a diversified, international company and one of the largest small arms manufacturers in the world. The company produced its first revolver in 1941. The gun combined elements from several Manufacturers of that day, including Colt, Smith & Wesson and certain Spanish brands. This first revolver was designated the Model 38101SO. Taurus soon became a major factor in the South American market and experienced continuous growth.

In 1968, the company was ready to venture into the U.S. market. This was accomplished by employing the services of a succession of U.S. distributors over the next several years. Their efforts met with only marginal success.

In the meantime, Smith & Wesson had been purchased by a conglomerate named Bangor Punta. In 1970, Bangor Punta also purchased 54% of Taurus. Thus, the two companies became "sisters." Smith & Wesson never owned Taurus. They were both independent companies. However, during the next seven years, a great deal of technology and methodology was passed between the two. What may come as a surprise to some is that more of what was "right" in Porto Alegre was sent to Springfield than was sent from Springfield to south of the equator.

1977 saw our present ownership buy 54% of Taurus outright from Bangor Punta. At once a quest to improve overall quality of Taurus product was initiated. Also, the company now began a dynamic expansion program.

Beretta had won a huge contract in 1974 to produce small arms for the army of Brazil. Part of the deal was that Beretta construct a Brazilian factory and use Brazilian labor. This they did, in the southwestern coastal city of Sao Paulo. When the contract ran out in 1980, Beretta sold the plant, literally "lock, stock and barrel," to Taurus. Taurus now owned everything that once belonged to Beretta, including drawings, tooling, machinery, and a very experienced work force. Taurus was in the pistol business, and immediately sought to improve on the Beretta design, resulting in the popular and acclaimed Taurus PT-92 and PT-99 9mm pistols.

The next milestone for Taurus came in 1982. This is when the Brazil management decided to "take the bull by the horns" by opening an affiliated company, Taurus, in Miami, Florida. Sales that first year in America were limited as a solid distribution system had to be established. Taurus guns had not been advertised or written up in the shooting press. Taurus was truly an unknown commodity in the United States. This situation was to change dramatically in the next few years.

At the Dallas, Texas S.H.O.T. Show in 1984, Taurus was to make an announcement that was to have a tremendous impact on the entire industry. Taurus became the first company to offer its customers an unqualified LIFETIME REPAIR POLICY. This one brilliant piece of marketing changed the course of the company in this market. Only recently has this policy been matched. It has never been exceeded. In 1984, this daring innovative policy made everyone sit up and take notice of Taurus Firearms. The U. S. company has posted record years ever since...

In 1989, the company celebrated its 50th Anniversary. The celebration was capped off at the January 1990 S.H.O.T. Show, with Taurus giving away a brand new 1990 Ford Taurus to a lucky Dealer from New Mexico.

There was cause for celebration in 1994 when Forjas Taurus received the prestigious ISO 9001 designation from the International Organization for Standardization for superior manufacturing and marketing practices. Only one other firearms company in the world has obtained this designation. Currently, Taurus U.S.A. is at work to share this honor with the parent company.

Weatherby

Weatherby_logo

The history of Weatherby began in the mid-1940s when a young cartridge "wildcatter" named Roy Weatherby set out to change the world of firearm performance. Contrary to then-popular thinking (heavy bullets pushed at slow speeds), Roy believed that lightweight bullets traveling at super high speeds provided the best combination for one-shot kills. Based upon that philosophy, he spent the next decade developing the high-powered Weatherby Magnum cartridges for which the company is known today (.224, .240, .257, .270, 7mm, .300, .30-378, .340, .338-378, .375, .378, .416 and .460).

Throughout that period, Roy was also producing or re-chambering rifles designed specifically to accommodate his super-charged ammunition. At that time, he was producing his rifles on FN Mauser and French Brevex Magnum Mauser actions. However in 1957, Roy would again catch the attention of shooting and hunting world with a proprietary action that is today recognized around the world as the Mark V.

The foundation for the Mark V was the need for a stronger, safer action, able to withstand tremendous pressure, and the possibility of blown primers and ruptured case heads (due to the unpredictability of early handloaded and wildcat cartridges). After nearly a half century of proven performance, the Mark V continues to be known as the world's strongest bolt action.

In 1970, Roy once again showed his entrepreneurial spirit when he introduced the Weatherby Vanguard action, borrowing many of the same characteristics and design elements of the Mark V with two locking lugs (vs. 9 in the Mark V). Over the years, the Vanguard has steadily gained in popularity for its superior performance, guaranteed accuracy and exceptional value. Today, it is the only production rifle that comes with a factory-shot target as assurance of guaranteed accuracy.

The Weatherby lineage continued in 1983 when Roy's son, Ed Weatherby, assumed the leadership mantle of the company. Under Ed's guidance, the company has seen growth and expansion both in Mark V and Vanguard rifle offerings, as well as a full line of Semi-Automatic, Pump, Side-by-Side and Over/Under shotguns, and accessories, apparel and collectibles.

The innovation and pacesetting performance associated with the Weatherby name spans more than 60 years. Yet, while our place in history is firmly established, it is the prospects for the future that shine brightest of all.
